In this study, the efficacy of four local entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs), Steinernema affine, Steinernema carpocapsae, Steinernema feltiae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, against melon fly (Myiopardalis pardalina), was investigated under laboratory conditions. The tested EPNs were collected from different localities in Turkey and the melon fly pupae were collected from different, infested melon fields of Şükürlü village, Diyarbakır. The efficacy experiments were conducted with 2 treatments, namely 50 and 100 IJs of each species of EPN, and one melon fly pupa in each well of a12-well plate at 25 °C. The mortalities of melon fly pupae, which were recorded 7 days after inoculation with EPNs, ranged from 0.0% to 32.1%, depending on the nematode species. Based on the results of this study, field studies should be conducted to determine the practical effectiveness of the use of H. bacteriophora against the pupae of the melon fly, M. pardalina.
