Osmanlı Devleti’nin son yüzyılı, kaybedilen savaşların etkisiyle hızlı ve farklı oluşumların yaşandığı bir döneme işaret etmektedir. Askerî ve eğitim gibi alanlarda bu yenilikler en güçlü şekilde karşılık bulur. Kültürel ve sanatsal aktivitelerde de bu değişim en üst seviyede hissedilir. Yaşanan bu değişim sürecini en yakından takip etmemizi sağlayan ise süreli yayınlardır. Osmanlı yazılı basının bu süreçte son derece etkili olduğunu, topluma yön vericiliğinin arttığını söyleyebiliriz. Bu bağlamda dönemin süreli yayınları gündemi tüm sıcaklığını okuyucularına yansıtan birincil kaynaklara dönüşmektedir. Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun bu döneminde Batı ile kurulan yakın temaslar, sadece siyasî ve ekonomik yapıyı değil, kültür ve sanat dünyasını da etkileyerek, bir değişim ivmesi yaratır. Bu değişimin ikinci aşaması ise Cumhuriyet’in kuruluşu ve gerçekleştirilen devrimlerle siyasi, sosyal, ekonomik ve kültürel yaşamın yeniden düzenlenmesidir. Bu makale, Batılı anlamda Türk resminin Osmanlı’dan Cumhuriyet’e uzanan süreçte anılan ilk devir Türk ressamlarından bir seçkiyi kapsamaktadır. Bu bağlamda Nami Dede, İbrahim Paşa, Hüsnü Yusuf Bey, Osman Nuri Paşa, Yusuf Ziya Paşa, Hüseyin Zekai Paşa ve Süleyman Seyyid Bey makalemizin ana karakterlerini oluşturmaktadır. Bu sanatçıların hem hayat hikâyeleri hem de sanatsal yönleri tek tek ele alınmıştır. Özellikle yaşam çizgilerine yakın tarihlerde yayınlanmış gazete, mecmua ve kitapların ışığında, dönemin ressamları ve üretimlerinin resim sanatımıza nasıl yön verdiğinin tespitine çalışılmıştır. Bu isimlerin Türk resim sanatına teknik, konu ve üslup olarak katkıları irdelenmeye çalışılacaktır. Türk resminin mihenk taşları arasında gösterebileceğimiz bu isimlerin büyük çabalarla açtığı yolda, Cumhuriyet’in feyz verdiği yeni ressamlar yürümeye başlayacaktır. Hiç şüphesiz Cumhuriyetin genç ve dinamik çocukları, seleflerinin kendilerine teslim ettiği sanat meşalesini çok daha ileriye taşıyacaklardır.
The last century of the Ottoman Empire prognosticate a period that rapid and different formations due to the lost wars. In purview of the military and education, these innovations respond strongly. Also in cultural and artistic activities this change is felt at the highest level. Periodical publications provide us to follow this change process closely. We can say that The Ottoman press was very effective in this process and that provide guidance to society. In this context, periodicals of the period become the primary sources that reflect all the warmth of the agenda to its readers. In this period of the Ottoman Empire, close contacts that established with west create a momentum of change by affecting not only the political and economic structure, but also the world of cultural and art. The second stage of this change is the recomposition of political, social, economic and cultural life through the establishment of the Republic and the revolutions. This article includes a index of first Turkish painters that mentioned in the process from the Ottoman to the Republic of Turkish painting in the Western meaning. In this context, Nami Dede, İbrahim Pascha, Hüsnü Yusuf Bey, Osman Nuri Pascha, Yusuf Ziya Pascha, Hüseyin Zekai Pascha and Süleyman Seyyid Bey are the main characters of our article. Both the life stories and artistic aspects of these artists have been thoroughly examined. It is aimed to examine how the painters of the period and their productions contributed to the art of painting, especially in the lights of the newspapers, magazines and books, that published close to their lifetime. The contributions of these artists to the art of Turkish painting in terms of technique, subject and style will be emphasized. New painters inspired by the Republic will start to walk on the path that these names, who are the cornerstones of Turkish painting, opened with great efforts. Undoubtfully, the young and dynamic children of the republic will carry the torch of art that their predecessors have delivered to them much further.
