Abstract:

Purpose: This study was performed as a identification for the purpose of determining the attitudes of nurses regarding the participation of parents in the care of the child in the hospital. Method: The study was carried out between October 1st and January 1, 2016 at a university in the West Black Sea Region and a female-born-baby disease hospital. The study was carried out by 130 nurses. The data is collected with the indicative Information Form and Parental Participation Attitude Scale. The data obtained from the study was evaluated with the SPSS 19.0 program. Results: 55.4 percent of participants were in university hospitals, 44.6 percent in state hospitals, 20.0 percent were working in newborn intensive care, the average working year in children’s clinics was 7.09±6.31. 81.5 per cent of parents don’t receive child care. The result: According to the work life characteristics of the nurses who participated in our study Parental Participation Attitude Scale, when the average score is assessed, there is a significant difference between the hospital, the clinic, the location in which the clinic is studied and the status of family-centered care information receipt (p<0.05).
