Abstract:

In this research, it is aimed to examine the problem solving techniques of school principals. In this context, students' reading habits, being late to school and personal care were examined by nominal group technique, root cause analysis and Pareto analysis. Assumptions of qualitative research management were used in the research. In this framework, three different focus groups were formed in the working group and a total of 48 school principals took part in the study. Within the scope of the research, group work done according to the nominal group technique and the results showed that technological tools affect book reading habit in a negative way. In addition, being late to school of students was examined via five root cause analysis and the root problem indicated that parents did not know the benefits of going bed early for students. Moreover, it has been understood that the students themselves, their families and the environments are the most important sources in order to develop the perception of personal care. Suggestions developed within the scope of the research can be listed as follows: In order to increase children's reading habits, they should be consulted. In addition to this, it was concluded that the reason for the late arrival of the students was that families did not know the benefits of early hospitalization. In this context, school staff should help parents build a strong educational culture in their homes.
