The purpose of this article is to study the decisive impact of Muslims’ rational tendency and knowledge-centered way of thinking on the emergence and development of Islamic thought and science. The article, in which Qur’ān is claimed to be the main source of this tendency and way of thinking, deals with the subject-matter by giving examples from different Muslim thinkers and Muslim schools of thought, and shows that the rational tendency is generally a characteristic of Muslim intellectuals. Moreover, in the article, the influence of Muslim intellectuals’ understanding of reason and its role on Medieval Latin world is revealed.
