Abstract:

Children’s entertainment programs, animations, music and cartoons are children’s broadcasts that children watch with interest on television. If it is considered that children learn a lot of concrete or abstract concepts especially through cartoons, it can be said that carefully prepared cartoons play an important role in children’s cognitive development. The pre-school period is of great importance for the child to acquire positive attitudes and behaviors towards the environment and to make them the basis for his future life. Considering that children identify with cartoon characters and take the positive and negative characters in the cartoon program as an example, cartoons established on the environmental concept are thought to be useful in the environmental education. There is no study in the field literature in which a cartoon based on this concept is analysed in the context of environmental education. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the "Water Messengers" cartoon in terms of environmental problems and sustainability. In this study, content analysis of the quality research methods was used. In the film, it is determined that the environmental consciousness is generally sought to be gained.
