Bu makale Türkiye’de ortaokul öğretmeni yetiştiren kurumların kısa tarihini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu amaçla Türkiye’de 1923-1946 yılları arasında öğretmen yetiştirmek için açılan Orta Darülmuallimat, Orta Darülmuallimin, Orta Muallim Mektepleri incelenmiştir. Konu okulların açıldığı tarih ile eğitim enstitülerine dönüştürüldüğü tarih arasında sınırlandırılmıştır. Çalışma ortaya koymuştur ki Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nde ilk açılan ortaokul öğretmeni yetiştiren kurum, bilinenin aksine Gazi Orta Muallim Mektebi değil de İstanbul’daki Orta Darülmuallimin ve Darülmuallimattır. Çalışmanın verilerini tarihi dökümanlar oluşturmaktadır. Yapılan araştırmada Devlet Arşivleri belgelerinden, TÜİK verilerinden, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı yayımlarından, Yönetmeliklerden, konunun geçtiği dönemde yayımlanmış olan çalışmalardan, çeşitli telif eserlerden yararlanılmıştır. Dolayısıyla yöntem olarak doküman incelenmesi üzerine kurulu olan nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarihsel analiz kullanılmıştır.

Short History of High School Teachers in Turkey (1923-1946)

This article reveals the short history of the institutions that educate high school teachers in Turkey. For this purpose, the Middle Darulmuallimat, which was opened in Turkey for teaching teachers between 1923-1946 years, studied the Middle Darulmuallimin, Middle Muallim Mekteples. The subject is limited between the date of opening of the schools and the date of conversion into educational institutions. The study has shown that the institution that educates the first high school teacher opened in the Republic of Turkey, unlike what is known, is the Gazi Middle Muallim Mektebi, not the Middle Darülmuallim and Darülmuallimatt in Istanbul. The data of the study is made up of historical documents. The research was conducted by the State Archives documents, the TIK data, the publications of the Ministry of Education, the Regulations, the works published in the period the subject passed, and various authoritarian works. Therefore, historical analysis of the qualitative research methods based on the study of the document as a method has been used.
