Abstract:

Local governments are unable to meet their services with their existing income only due to the rapid population and demand growth and are entering the search for new resources. Local government banks have emerged to meet this need of local governments that are starting to apply more to the way of debt. Local governments must ensure continuity in the work of local governments in order to continue their services. In Turkey, the local government banks, which have an example, are doing their transactions in different ways, serving different areas. The aim of the study is to explore the role of local government banks in the services that local governments perform and the local government bank Ilbank A.Ş. is in the process of structuring in Turkey. It is recommended to develop its activities in these areas. In this context, IELBANK A.Ş. performs technical support and consultancy work together as a result of the comparison.It seems that there is no example in the world that works in the same way and the financial and technical consultancy that it has given to local governments has no alternative in Turkey. Therefore, it should be emphasized that it is necessary to take important roles in the faster realization of new investments by preserving the advisory feature for a longer period of time and to put the banking feature in the forefront for a sustainable structure.
