Her iki gruba Non-motor Semptomlar Anketi (NMSA), Beck Depresyon Ölçeği (BDÖ), Hamilton Anksiyete Ölçeği (HAÖ), Pitsburg Uyku Kalite Ölçeği (PUKÖ), Epworth Gündüz Uykululuk Ölçeği (EUÖ) ve Uykusuzluk Şiddet İndeksi (UŞİ) uygulandı.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the effects of diabetes mellitus (DM) on non-motor symptoms observed in Parkinson's disease (PH). Patients and Methods: Followed with PH diagnosis in the Neurology Clinic, 73 patients with DM 30, not DM were included in the study. The United Parkinson’s Disease Assessment Scale (BPHDÖ) was implemented and the Hoehn Yahr Evolution (HYE) was conducted. Both groups were applied Non-Motor Symptoms Survey (NMSA), Beck Depression Scale (BDÖ), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAÖ), Pitsburg Sleep Quality Scale (PUKÖ), Epworth Day Sleep Scale (EUÖ) and Unsomething Violence Index (USI). The findings: There was no significant difference between the two groups of HAÖ, BDÖ, SERVICE, EUÖ points. There was no significant difference in the rates of depression, anxiety disorders and day-to-day sleepiness in groups with and without diabetes. According to PUKÖ, the proportion of those who slept was the same. When all the questions of the non-motor symptoms survey were evaluated separately, "Is there excessive sweating?" The ratio of those who answered yes was significantly high in the diabetes group (p=0.036). The rate of overwhelming sweating in people with diabetes was 13 times higher than in people with no diabetes. The result: Diabetes is seen as a parameter that increases the rate of excess sweating in Parkinson’s patients.
Aim: The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of diabetes mellitus (DM) on non-motor symptoms in Parkison’s Disease (PD). Patients and Methods: The study included 73 patients with DM and 30 without DM who were followed-up with the diagnosis of PD at the neurology outpatient clinic. The United Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) and Hoehn Yahr Staging (HYE) was performed. In both groups Non-motor Symptoms Questionnaire (NMSQ), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Hamilton Anxiety Inventory (HAI), Pitsburg Sleep Quality Scale (PSQI), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) were performed. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of HAI, BDI, ISI and ESS scores. There was no significant difference in the rates of depression, anxiety disorders and daytime sleepiness in the groups with and without DM. According to the PSQI, the ratio of those with poor sleep was the same. When all the questions of the non-motor symptoms questionnaire were evaluated separately, the ratio of those who answered yes to the question ‘’Was there excessive sweating?’’ was significantly higher in the diabetic group (p = 0.036). The risk of excessive sweating in patients with PD who had DM was 13 times higher than those without DM. Coclusion: DM is a parameter that increases the rate of excessive sweating in patients with PD.
