Bu çalışmanın amacı; lise öğrencilerinin üstbiliş düşünme beceri düzeylerinin belirlenerek bunların cinsiyete, sınıfa, ailenin aylık gelirine, genel not ortalamasına, anne ve baba eğitim düzeyine göre anlamlı farklılık gösterip göstermediğinin ortaya çıkarılmasıdır. Çalışmada, lise öğrencilerinin üstbiliş düşünme becerilerinin incelenmesi amacıyla tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemi, Hatay ilindeki liselerde öğrenim gören ve uygun örnekleme ile seçilen 916 lise öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında veri toplama aracı olarak Tuncer ve Kaysi (2013) tarafından geliştirilen üstbiliş düşünme becerileri ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, max, min gibi tanımlayıcı istatistiklerin yanı sıra bağımsız örneklem T-testi ve ANOVA testi gibi çıkarımsal istatistikler kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda, lise öğrencilerinin üstbiliş düşünme beceri düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu; kadın öğrencilerin üstbiliş düşünme beceri düzeylerinin erkeklerinkinden yüksek olduğu; genel not ortalaması 70-80, 80-90 ve 90-100 aralığında olan öğrencilerin üstbiliş düşünme becerilerinin 70 ve altı genel not ortalamasına sahip öğrencilerinkinden daha yüksek olduğu; sınıf, ailenin aylık geliri, anne ve baba eğitim düzeyi değişkenlerine göre öğrencilerin üstbiliş düşünme beceri düzeylerinde anlamlı değişim olmadığı ortaya çıkmıştır.
The aim of this study was to determine metacognitive thinking skill levels of high school students and to reveal whether they differ significantly by their gender, grade, monthly income of the family, grade point average, and parental education level. In the study, survey model was employed to examine metacognitive thinking skills of high school students. The sample of the study consisted of 916 high school students studying in different high schools in Hatay and selected by convenient sampling. The scale of metacognitive thinking skills developed by Tuncer and Kaysi (2013) was used as a data collection tool within the scope of the study. Descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, maximum and minimum scores as well as inferential statistics such as independent samples T-test and ANOVA test were performed. As a result of the study, it was found that high school students had high metacognitive thinking skills, metacognitive thinking skill levels of female students were higher than that of males, metacognitive thinking skills of students with a GPA of 70-80, 80-90 and 90-100 were higher than those of students with a GPA of 70 and below, there were no significant differences in metacognitive thinking skill levels of the students by the variables of grade, monthly income of the family, and parental education level.
