As a result of their special features environmental problems transcend national boundaries parallel to the increase in mutual interdependence in the international system. These days, the manner in which a particular country uses its natural resources seriously influences the state of natural resources in other countries. In this context, disagreements that emerge from the policies or decisions of states to use natural resources within their borders is regulated through international environmental law. The fact that environmental problems transcend national boundaries and have the potential to have a global impact necessitates international cooperation. A number of agreements, protocols, principles and norms have been prepared for the prevention of environmental problems and collective preservation of environmental commons for future generations. Azerbaijan as a member of international community has been tries to meet its responsibilities to future generations by taking part in international environmental agreements, thereby raising its environmental standards to global levels. In this study, international agreements on the protection of environmental commons and specific agreements on environmental protection that were ratified by Azerbaijan for inclusion in domestic regulations their transformation to domestic law are assessed
