Teapot as a form, consists of a spout, a handle, a lid and a body. In a way, the ceramic pot which is called teapot fulfills the function parallel to the tradition of drinking tea, and in another way it’s purely artistic, and it’s a plastic form created for the sake of art without any functional intentions. Functional teapots were produced in China for the first time and they can be dated back to circa 16th Century. The production of this vessel, spread around the world from China, constantly continued in China and in the countries met with teapots as well. Throughout this period, its functional and plastic values have been increased and are still increasing. In this paper, brief history of teapots is introduced and it is intended to investigate functional and artistic definitions of teapots based on individual works
