Abstract:

In every organizational structure, there are problems arising from communication between managers and employees. It is known that there are problems arising from communication between school administrators and teachers, since there are live organizations living in schools. The aim of this study is to determine the reflections of communication problems between administrators and teachers in schools on education and to reveal possible solutions. The research was conducted within the scope of qualitative research method, with a phenomenological design. Maximum sampling technique, one of the purposeful sampling method, was used for the study group of the research. The study group in the research consists of 10 administrators working in the Erbaa district of Tokat province in the 2022/2023 academic year. As a data collection tool, a semi-structured interview form consisting of six-item open-ended questions was used for the administrators. The data obtained as a result of the studies were analyzed according to the descriptive analysis technique. When the data is analysed, managers firstly define the concept of communication; transfer to the target, the process of understanding each other, information exchange and contact. The participants stated that there are problems arising from communication between administrators and teachers in schools. As the reasons of communication problems between the participants administrators and teachers; not being able to dominate the legislation, being prejudiced, the expression style of the discourse, not fulfilling the responsibilities, role difference and gender. The participants; the results of communication problems between administrators and teachers; academic failure, insecurity, official duties, assignment/separation, conflict and damage to the school climate. In order to eliminate communication problems between participants, administrators and teachers; They made some suggestions such as empathy, trust, in-service training, respectful style and being open to criticism. As a result; In schools, communication problems between administrators and teachers reflect negatively on education, and administrators and teachers should make more efforts as a necessity of their profession in order to eliminate these negativities.
