Abstract:

The image, which is one of the main elements that distinguish poetry from daily language, has been valid in the entire six library poems of Cemal Süreya. A common word mountain and therefore the image network is one of the attractive features of its poems. This common word is located in the center of the mountain and image network "woman". The other words that make up the image of the poems can also be said that they gain function and meaning around this image. The image of the "woman" in the poems of the series is characterized by a piece of appearance. In the poems that the woman appears as a loving/contra-gender, this piece of perception style attracts attention. In some poems, the female image is used as the main carrier of a desire, a lack, a social, cultural problem or a desire arising from the poet’s private life. But the woman, despite the thesis and the thematic weight she has, cannot be expressed as an essence in the poems of Sureya. This article aims to show that the image, which is one of the basic elements of the poem type, has a significant and determining place in the whole poem line of Sureya, the image of the "woman" which is a central concept in her poems and the way of use of this image.
