SEREBRAL PALSİLİ ÇOCUKLARIN EBEVEYNLERİNİN EV PROGRAMINA UYUMUNA ETKİ EDEN FAKTÖRLERİN İNCELENMESİ: BİR ÖLÇEK GELİŞTİRME ÇALIŞMASI
2020

Abstract:

Review of the factors that influence the parents' conformity to the home program of children with cerebral palsy: a measurement development
2020
Author:
Abstract:

Purpose: The home program is a set of recommendations given by physiotherapists to the parents to be applied outside the treatment session. The aim of this study was to develop a scale to determine the effectiveness of the home program and the family/care providers’ conformity to the home program. Method: Clinical experience and opinions of specialists in the field of pediatric rehabilitation for the development of the scale were determined in 48 articles as a result of the open conversation with families and the scan of the literature. Based on the opinions of four pediatric neurologists and seven physiotherapists with five years of clinical experience in the field, the scale was reduced to 28 substances. Brain palsy (SP) was applied to 155 parents with children and validity and reliability analyses were made. Children's brutal motor function classification system, hand skills classification system, food drinking skills classification system and communication skills classification system levels were determined. The level of depression of parents was measured by the Beck Depression Inventory. The quality of life of children was assessed by the Pediatric Data Collection Tool. Results: The developed scale was test-up test value ICC=0,939 and internal consistency Cronbach alpha ratio=0,659. Hard Motor Function Classification System level V was higher in compliance with the home program of individuals with SP (p=0,020). Discussions: The developed "Cerebral Palsy Children's Measurement Assessment of Parents' Adaptation to the Home Program for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation" was established as valid and reliable. The effectiveness of the home program given by physiotherapists was found to be at the level to determine the family/care providers’ conformity to the home program.

An Examination Of The Factors Affecting Compliance Of Parents Of Children With Cerebral Palsy To Home Program: A Scale Development Study
2020

Abstract:

Purpose: Home program is a set of recommendations to be implemented outside of treatment sessions given to parents by physiotherapists. This study aimed to develop a scale to determine parents' compliance and effectiveness of home programs. Methods: In order to develop the scale, 48 items were identified as a result of clinical experience and opinions of experts in pediatric rehabilitation, open interviews with parents, and literature review. The items were reduced to 28 items based on the views of four pediatric neurologists and seven physiotherapists with at least five years of clinical experience in the field. Parents of 155 children with cerebral palsy (CP) were administered and validity and reliability analyses were performed. Gross Motor Classification System, Manuel Ability Classification System, Eating and Drinking Ability Classification System, and Communication Function Classification System levels were determined. Parents' anxiety and depression levels were measured using the Beck Depression Inventory, and Children's quality of life was determined using the Pediatric Outcomes Data Collection Instrument. Results: Test-retest value of the developed scale was found to be ICC=0.939, and internal consistency was Cronbach's alpha coefficient=0.659. It was found that individuals with CP with a Gross Motor Function Classification System level V had higher compliance with the home program (p=0.020). Conclusion: The validity and reliability of “Questionnaire of Parents of Children with Cerebral Palsy Compliance on Physiotherapy Home Program” were established. The scale was competent enough to determine the effectiveness of a home program given by physiotherapists and adaptation of family/ caregivers to home program.
