Özet:

The prospective teachers’ training to teach with technology is essential to bring innovative changes in the teaching and learning process. At the time of pandemic, when we crucially need alternative pedagogies, the teachers’ understanding of teaching with technology is vital. The purpose of this study was to assess the Pakistani prospective teachers’ knowledge of teaching with the help of technology. A sample of 400 male and female prospective teachers studying in the four years teacher education program at the public sector universities of Pakistan were surveyed, with the help of a standardized tool called TPACK, to assess their knowledge of technology and technological pedagogical knowledge. The results revealed that, regardless of already studied technology course and prior completed teaching practice/internship, the student teachers did not possess sufficient technology knowledge as well as technological pedagogical knowledge. The participants also reported that their professors in the education department were not instructing them well to integrate technology into instruction. However, this study found that technology knowledge is a predictor of technological pedagogical knowledge.
