Bu araştırmada üstün/özel yetenekli öğrencilerin Bilim, Teknoloji, Mühendislik ve Matematik [STEM] uygulamalarının ve bir STEM materyali olarak Algodoo’ya yönelik katılımcı görüşlerinin ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan durum çalışması kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunun belirlemesinde, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini, 7. ve 8. sınıf düzeyinde 15 (8 erkek, 7 kız) üstün/özel yetenekli öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Bu çalışmada STEM eğitim programı kapsamında, öğrencilerin fen bilimleri dersi konuları içerisinde yer alan basit makineler ve enerji dönüşümlerine yönelik dört farklı STEM etkinliği gerçekleştirilmiştir. Her bir etkinlik 6 ders saati olarak planlanmıştır. Yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşme yöntemi ile toplanan araştırma verilerinin değerlendirilmesinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. İçerik analizi ile toplanan veriler kodlanarak temalar oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmanın bulguları, öğrencilerin STEM uygulamalarına ve Algodoo kullanımına yönelik olumlu yönde anlayışlara ve görüşlere sahip olduklarını göstermiştir.
This research aims to reveal the practices of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics [STEM] of superior/special talented students and the participating views of Algodoo as a STEM material. In this study, one of the quality research methods has been used. In the determination of the study group, the measurement sampling method was used from the purpose sampling methods. The sample of the study was composed of 15 high/special skilled students in 7th and 8th classes (8 men, 7 girls). In this study, within the framework of the STEM training program, four different STEM events for simple machines and energy transformations included in the subjects of the students' science courses were carried out. Each course is scheduled for 6 hours. Content analysis has been used in the evaluation of research data collected by the semi-configured conversation method. The data collected by content analysis is coded and themes are created. The findings of the study have shown that students have positive understanding and opinions about STEM practices and the use of Algodoo.
