Abstract:

Humanitarian diplomacy has emerged as an essential tool used by international organizations, states, and civil society to provide aid to vulnerable individuals affected by conflicts. This approach has expanded in recent times, now including international humanitarian assistance activities that address emergencies, poverty, and inequality. In Türkiye's "enterprising and humanitarian foreign policy" approach, humanitarian diplomacy plays a critical role in shaping and implementing contemporary Turkish foreign policy. This approach has become a defining feature of Türkiye's global activism, aimed at strengthening relationships with various regions. Türkiye has prioritized building relationships with countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) over the last two decades, with a primary focus on enhancing political and economic cooperation. Over time, humanitarian efforts have also become a key component of Türkiye's LAC policy. This article examines the role, scope and efficacy of humanitarian diplomacy in Türkiye's relations with LAC countries.
