Bu çalışmanın temel amacı Pamukkale Üniversitesi, İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi öğrencileri örnekleminde öğrenilmiş çaresizlik ile motivasyon arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Yapılan tanımlayıcı araştırmada veri toplama yöntemi olarak Anket yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Ankete 400 öğrenci katılmış olup 396 anket değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Çalışmada öğrenilmiş çaresizliği ölçmek için Lester (1998) tarafından geliştirilen daha sonra Gençöz, Vatan ve Lester (2006) yılında Türkçe'ye uyarlanarak geliştirilen Umutsuzluk, Çaresizlik ve Talihsizlik Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Motivasyonu ölçmek amacı ile Antalyalı ve Bolat (2017) tarafından geliştirilen Temel Motivasyon Kaynakları Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin çözümlenmesinde SPSS (22.0) paket programı kullanılmıştır Araştırma sonuçlarında öğrenilmiş çaresizlik ile motivasyon ve motivasyonun boyutları arasında ters yönlü anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Buna göre, öğrencilerin motivasyon düzeyi arttıkça öğrenilmiş çaresizlik düzeyi düşmektedir. Araştırma bulgularına dayanarak üniversitenin öğrencilerin motivasyonunu artırmaya yönelik çalışmalar yapmaları önerilmiştir.

In the descriptive study, the survey method was used as the data collection method. 400 students participated in the survey and 396 surveys were used for final data analysis. In order to measure the learned helplessness by Lester (1998) and adapted to Turkish in Gençöz, Vatan and Lester (2006) as the Scale of Despair, Helplessness and Misfortune was used. The scale of Basic Motivation Resources developed by Antalyalı and Bolat (2017) was used to measure motivation. SPSS (22.0) package program was used to analyze the survey data. According to research results, a significant inverse relation was found between the helplessness learned and the dimensions of motivation, as the motivation level of students increases, the level of learned helplessness decreases. Based on the research findings, some programs that the university should carry out are suggested to increase the motivation of the students.
