Today, with the impact of technological developments, the translation industry is moving towards a new dimension. An extension of these developments is the machine translation based on artificial intelligence. This innovation, especially with the concept of post-editing, has completely changed the traditional translation concept and offered translators new roles such as post-editor. This study aims to reveal the attitudes of technical translators in Turkey towards the post-machine translation correction process with a translation sociology-based approach. In this context, the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu’s key concepts are the theoretical framework of the “habitus” and “extraordinary” study. The main reason for the selection of technical translators as the subject of the research is that machine translation provides very successful outcomes in the field of technical translation. The study has concluded that in Turkey technical translators are able to adapt to the changing system thanks to their habitus suitable for the needs of the area and because they are very pleased with the economic gains they obtain from the area, they are in a positive attitude towards the process of repair after machine translation. As a data collection method, a survey consisting of 13 open end questions was used. The study was conducted with a group of 10 participants who performed technical translations in 3 different companies, and it is believed that more empirical work is needed to support the findings that arise.

The reason technical translators are chosen as the research object is that machine translation offers very successful outputs in technical translation. The study concludes that technical translators in Turkey have a positive attitude towards post-editing as they are satisfied with the economic gains they have obtained from the field and have succeeded in adapting to the changing system with their habitus suitable for the needs of the field. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire consisting of 13 open-ended questions. Since the study was conducted with a group of 10 participants from 3 different companies, additional empirical studies are required to support the findings.
