Covid-19 Pandemisinde Okul Çocuklarında (6-10 Yaş) Teknolojik Araç Kullanımının Belirlenmesi: İstanbul Örneği
2021

Turkish Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care

Abstract:

Abstract:

Introduction: Covid-19 pandemic is believed to have caused children to stay at home for a long time, to carry out formal education from a distance, and to use more internet and technological tools because their parents work from home, increasing the use of technological vehicles in children. This study was conducted to identify the use of technological vehicles in school children (6-10 years of age) in covid-19 pandemic. Method: This study, which is of a cutting-edge and identifying type, was conducted in January 2021 with 330 parents with 6-10-year-old children in Istanbul. The data is collected in translation through the Google Forms application. The data was analyzed in the SPSS 25.0 package program using numbers, percentages and ki-quare tests. Results: 52% of children were men, 22.4% were 10 years old, 13.1% were tablets during the pandemic process and 44.4% spent 4-6 hours using technological vehicles in the pandemic process. The age of the children, the working status of their parents, the family structure and the time spent on the technological tools after the pandemic have been statistically meaningful. The study found that children spent more time in the pandemic process with technological vehicles and believed that stay at home during the pandemic process increased the use of technological vehicles. It is believed that the increased use of technological vehicles related to the Covid-19 epidemic in children may lead to the development of new unhealthy usage habits. Therefore, it is recommended to implement programs aimed at the proper and effective use of technological tools for society during and after the pandemic process.

2021

Abstract:

Objective: With the Covid-19 pandemic, reasons such as long-term stay at home, formal education being carried out remotely, and the increased use of internet and technological tools because parents work from home are thought to increase the use of technological tools in children. This research was conducted to provide technological tools for school children (6-10 years old) in the covid-19 pandemic. Material-Method: This cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted in January 2021 with 330 parents who have 6-10 years old children in Istanbul. The data were collected online via the Google Forms application with a questionnaire form. The data were analyzed using the number, percentage and chi-square tests in the SPSS 25.0 package program. Results: It was determined that 52% of the children were male, 22.4% were 10 years old, 13.1% acquired tablets during the pandemic process and 44.4% spent 4-6 hours in the pandemic with technological tools. A statistically significant relationship was found between the age of the children, their parents' working status, family structure and the time spent with technological tools after the pandemic. Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that children spend more time with technological tools during the pandemic process and almost all of their parents think that staying at home during the pandemic process increases the use of technological tools. It is thought that the increase in the use of technological tools related to the Covid-19 epidemic in children may cause the development of new unhealthy usage habits. For this reason, it is recommended to carry out programs for the correct and effective use of technological tools for the society during and after the pandemic.
