Bu araştırmanın amacı fen bilimleri 5, 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf ders kitaplarında yer alan bilim insanları ile ilgili bilgilerin öğretmen gözünden değerlendirilmesini analiz etmektir. Bu araştırmada bütüncül çoklu durum çalışma deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın birinci aşamasında 2019-2020 eğitim-öğretim yılında Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından onaylanan ve eğitim bilişim ağında (EBA) yayınlanan ortaokul fen bilimleri ders kitaplarında yer alan bilim insanlarının cinsiyet, kökene göre dağılım ve yaşam öyküleri incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın ikinci aşamasında ise fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin fen bilimleri ders kitaplarında yer alan bilim insanlarının cinsiyet, kökenleri ve yaşam öyküleri ile ilgili görüşlerini ortaya koymak için yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, devlet okullarında çalışan 20 fen bilimleri öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın sonunda fen bilimleri ders kitaplarında tüm sınıf düzeylerinde yüksek oranda erkek ve batı kökenli bilim insanlarına yer verildiği, yaşam öykülerine yer verilme oranlarının düşük olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca bilim insanlarının cinsiyet, köken ve yaşam öykülerine yönelik fen bilimleri ders kitaplarının analizi ile öğretmen görüşlerinin uyumlu olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları ve fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin görüşleri de dikkate alınarak fen bilimleri ders kitaplarında bilim insanlarına yer verilme şekilleriyle ilgili çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
The aim of this research is to analyze the evaluation of the information about scientists in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade science textbooks from the perspective of teachers. In this study, holistic multiple case study design were used. In the first stage of the research, the genders, origins and life stories of the scientists included in the secondary school science textbooks approved by the Ministry of National Education in the 2019-2020 academic year and published in the educational information network (EBA) are examined. In the second stage of the research, semi-structured interviews were conducted to reveal the views of science teachers about the genders, origins and life stories of scientists in science textbooks. The sample of the research consists of 20 science teachers working in public schools. At the end of the study, it was concluded that a high percentage of male and western origin scientists were included in the science textbooks at all grade levels, and the rate of including life stories was low. In addition, it was concluded that the analysis of science textbooks on genders, origins and life stories of scientists and teachers' views coincided. Considering the results of the research and the opinions of science teachers, various suggestions have been made about the way scientists are included in science textbooks.
