Among several domains of everyday life marked by the language taboo we can distinguish the sector of female lingerie which, referring to parts of the human body called shameful, resorts to euphemization to escape the expression of what is embarrassing. The purpose of this article is to analyze how and by what linguistic means this phenomenon is carried out in the denominations of lingerie pieces. The analysis will be done in four languages: French, Italian, English and Polish. We will also take into account the phenomenon of brand names in the mentioned clothing department so that we can observe how the concept of linguistic taboo is achieved through this type of designations. This study will be carried out on different formal, stylistic but also pragmatic contexts.
