Internship or internship education is a course in which a theory or field of study, which is often part of a particular field of study, studied simultaneously or previously, is practically supported and presented to the student prior to graduation. The quality of application influenced by a variety of determinants such as internship school teachers, university counselors and practical schools plays a vital role in the development of candidate teachers. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to understand the expectations of the candidate teachers in the application process and their achievements at the end of this application. Based on the phenomenological research pattern, this study reflects the experience of the teacher candidates (N = 20) in the internship process. Open-end interview questions developed by the researcher were addressed to the participants in order to explore the cognitive structures of the participants. The results of the study show that the theoretical knowledge and practices acquired in the educational faculty are not similar to the practices in the real school environment. The recommendations necessary to improve the quality of the internship applications are addressed to the Higher Education Institution.
