Abstract:

Koyunyeri Village Mosque is located 15 km from Ipsala district of Edirne. It is located east of the present-day village mosque in the village of Koyunyeri which is the old name and Alico Pehlivan which is the new name. The structure, which is thought to have been built during the second Abdulhamid period, was used for a long time; however, by the end of the 1980s, its superstructure began to collapse. As the mosque gradually fell into disuse, a new mosque was built adjacent to the mosque in 1994 by the residents of the village. Later, the upper cover of the mosque, which became increasingly dilapidated, was completely destroyed, and the doors and windows were broken. Therefore, the village people and the headman completely eliminated the mosque in late 2018 due to the danger of the structure. The area where the historic mosque is located is now organized as the garden of the new mosque. There is no building inscription on the structure, which has a rectangular plan close to the square. It is also unknown at what date the mosque was built and by whom. Considering the construction dates, architectural styles and other mosques in the same region that are similar to the mosque, it is believed that the work was built during the second Abdulhamid period of the beginning of the twentieth century. In this study, general information about the materials, plans and design features of the mosque, which was completely destroyed in late 2018, will be given. The aim of the study is to introduce this masterpiece, which was not previously available in any branch of science, to the world of science.
