Abstract:

Many annotations and translations of Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi’s Mesnevî have been made. While some of these commentaries cover the whole of the six-volume Mesnevi, some of them were created by selecting some sections from the Mesnevî. One of the commentaries consisting of these selections is Hacı Piri Efendi’s work which is a prose named İntihâb-ı Şerh-i Mesnevî. This work; It is not an annotation that covers the entire Mesnevî, but as the name suggests, it is an annotation created by selecting some sections. Each page of the volume of the work, which is registered in Süleymaniye Library Hâlet Efendi, Mülhak, number 26, and consists of 172 leaves, consists of 17 lines. Pages 01b-53b of this volume were studied in 2017, pages 53b-110b in 2019, and leaves 111a-172b in 2021 by different people as master’s thesis. However, in these studies, Arabic and Persian verses, except for the verses, hadiths, masnavi couplets and Turkish verses included in the text, were placed in the main text as they were, and sufficient and systematic information was not given about their meanings and sources. The first 50 pages of the same copy of the work were reworked in a slightly more detailed way in 2018 as a different master’s thesis. In this work of Hacı Pîrî Efendi; he quoted from many Arab-Persian poets, and he included the words of some scholars in his work when necessary. Except for the Mesnevî couplets, the number of Persian verses placed in the main text is 209 in total. In this article; According to the naming of the author, 10 verses, 115 couplets, 45 poems, 10 rubai, 4 qit’a, 6 nazm, 16 mesnevi poems and 3 Persian untitled quotations which are in İntihâb-ı Şerh-i Mesnevî, were determined from the text and re-computerized, the translations of the poems were made and the differences between the poems and their sources were tried to be indicated by showing the sources as far as we could reach.
