Abstract:

University education is a process in which students prepare themselves for the profession they choose and begin to integrate with universal values. From this point to the move in the study of tourism, the relationship between the personality characteristics of university students, the level of conscious awareness and the commitment to the tourism sector has been tried to be determined. The research was carried out with the participation of a total of 255 students studying in the departments of Tourism and Hotel Management, Gastronomy and Cooking Arts, Recreation Management and Tourist Guidance of two professions associated with the University of Fisheries. The data was obtained by the survey method in April-May 2022. The research results show that there is a strong relationship between the personality characteristics of students who receive tourism education and their conscious awareness. The relationship between personality characteristics and commitment to the sector and conscious awareness and commitment to the sector is a very strong relationship. The findings also show that girls have a higher commitment to the sector compared to boys, that the commitment to the sector is reduced with the age of students, and that students who receive a bachelor’s degree have a higher awareness and commitment to the sector compared to pre-graduate students.
