Adından çok “Somuncu Baba” lakabıyla tanınan Şeyh Hâmid-i Velî, VIII/XIV ve IX/XV. asırda yaşamış sûfîlerden biridir. Onun, Anadolu tasavvuf geleneği açısından öneminin daha çok halîfeleri vası-tasıyla olduğu söylenebilir. Zira o, müstakil bir tarîkat kurmamış ancak Anadolu’nun ilk Türk tarîkatı ka-bul edilen Bayrâmiyye’nin kurucusu olan Hacı Bayrâm-ı Velî’yi yetiştirmiştir. Ayrıca, esas itibariyle müs-takil bir tarîkat hüviyetinde olmayıp tarîkatlarda bir anlayış olarak bulunan “melâmet” anlayışını müstakil bir tarîkata dönüştüren silsilenin de öncüsü kabul edilebilir. Bunun yanında Somuncu Baba’nın tesiri sa-dece halîfe yetiştirmek şeklinde olmayıp o, aynı zamanda eser telif eden sûfîlerdendir. Kendisine atfedilen Silâhü’l-Mürîdîn, Zikir Risâlesi ve Şerhi Hadîs-i Erbaîn isimli üç eseri vardır. Bu çalışmanın konusunu oluşturan Zikir Risâlesi, Somuncu Baba’nın tasavvuf ve tarîkat anlayışını ortaya koyan eseridir denebilir. Nitekim bu eserinde, tasavvufî düşünce ve uygulamalarını altı başlık altında ortaya koymuştur. İlk başlıkta zikrin önemi ve zikir konusunda kelime-i tevhidin faziletinden ikinci başlıkta, kelime-i tevhidin fazileti-nin nedenlerinden üçüncü başlıkta, zikrin kısımlarından dördüncü başlıkta zikrin şartları ve âdâbından beşinci başlıkta tavsiyelerinden ve hangi zikir ve duaların yapılması gerektiğinden altıncı başlıkta ise tac ve hırkanın beyanından bahsetmiştir.

In fact, in this work, Tasavvufy has presented his thoughts and practices under six titles. In the first chapter, the word-i-touched about the importance of the memory and the memory; in the second chapter, the word-i-touched about the reasons of the memory; in the third chapter, the parts of the memory; in the fourth chapter, the conditions of the memory and the adobe; in the fifth chapter, the advice and what the memories and prayers should be made; in the sixth chapter, the declaration of the tac and the grace.
