Abstract:

The research has three purposes. The first of these is the determination of the influence levels of Gazan Han, Olcaytu Han, Bulugân Hatun and Hoca Yakut in the construction of the madrasahs in Bayburt and Erzurum Yakutiye. The second is to put forward the reasons why madrasahs were built in these cities. The third is to examine whether the two madrasahs are connected with each other. Qualitative research method and literature search technique were used in the study. The research data, studies on Erzurum and Bayburt Yakutiye madrasas, and the archives of the Presidency Ottoman Archive and the General Directorate of Foundations created documents on the subject. Archive documents were selected to shed light on the subject with a purposeful sample. The data were evaluated with content analysis. As a result, it was understood that Hodja Yakut was not a builder in the construction of madrasahs, but was only responsible for the construction processes of the madrasahs. In the selection of the cities of Bayburt and Erzurum, it was concluded that the courage of the people of the region and their effective strategic position in the Sunni-Shi'a struggle were effective. It was determined that some information about the operation, income and other areas related to the Bayburt and Erzurum Yakutiye madrasas needed to be re-evaluated.
