Abstract The taxonomy of certain taxa of the genus Miltochrista Hübner, [1819] and Arctelene Kirti & Gill, 2008 is revised. Five new species are described: Miltochrista miraculosa sp. n. (South India), Miltochrista hogani sp. n. (South India), Miltochrista monoklina sp. n. (South India), Miltochrista kerala sp. n. (South India), and Miltochrista taragmena sp. n. (China: Yunnan). Four taxa are revived from synonymy and upgraded to species level: Miltochrista ochracea (Hampson, 1891), stat. n., Miltochrista obliqua (Hampson, 1891), stat. n., Miltochrista curvifascia (Hampson, 1891), stat. n., Miltochrista aurora (Hampson, 1891), stat. n. Two new combinations and three new synonyms are proposed: Arctelene arcuata (Moore, 1882), comb. n., Arctelene rubricosa (Moore, 1878), comb. n., Miltochrista obliqua (Hampson, 1891) = Lyclene fuscalis Hampson, 1891, syn. n., Miltochrista aurora (Hampson, 1891) = Lyclene rosea Hampson, 1891, syn. n., and Arctelene rubricosa (Moore, 1878) = Arctelene uncodes Kirti & Gill, 2008, syn. n. Lectotypes are designated for Lyclene ochracea Hampson, 1891, Asura obliqua Hampson, 1891, Lyclene fuscalis Hampson, 1891, Lyclene inconspicua Moore, 1878, Lyclene curvifascia Hampson, 1891, Lyclene rosea Hampson, 1891, Lyclene arcuata Moore, 1882, and Lyclene rubricosa Moore, 1878. Adults, male and female genitalia of all the taxa considered are illustrated.
