Abstract:

The concept of rural development aims to reduce the difference between rural and urban settlements, to increase the participation and contribution of the rural sector through the civil society organizations and local governments, to ensure the improvement of the living standards of the rural sector with economic and social possibilities limited, to ensure the balanced and sustainable development of the rural sector and to improve the economic and social conditions. Sustainable rural development means the sustainable use of factors such as people, the environment, natural resources, the increase in income and the rise of the living standards for people to have a sustainable life. In this context, the National Rural Network was established to ensure the implementation of rural development policies, to reduce social, economic and cultural differences between rural and urban settlements, and to ensure the continuation of rural areas. This study analyzed the applications of the National Rural Network and the National Rural Network in Turkey, created with the aim of ensuring sustainable development of rural areas.
