Abstract With domestication process, human’s treating animals from which he utilized is accepted as natural; it’s known that veterinary medicine implemented this treatment in collaboration with medicine in some periods of history; besides that nowadays, the importance of collaboration of veterinary medicine and medicine in the concept of “One medicine, one health” is (over) emphasized. In the written manuscripts, baitarnames are important sources for veterinary medicine and it is stated that those baitarnames include information about veterinary medicine and generally horse breeding, horse ailments and their treatments. At the same time those baitarnames include folkloristic information and also some information about medicine among them.In this study it is aimed to evaluate the common implementations of medicine and veterinary medicine (diagnostic and cure methods) taken place in the baitarnames.As materials two baitarnames that named “Tercüme-i Baytarnâme” and “Haza Kitâbu Baytarnâme” written by Ibn Ahi Hizam, were analyzed.In the study, the same treatments were implemented or recommended for human and animals for illnesses like spleen tumefaction, bosom pain, paunch hernia, liver illness (ziybe), itch, jardone (müşeş), skin pigmentation (baras), snakebite and abscess which are diagnosed in horses and humans; at the same time the implementation of similar cures for different illnesses (human caugh – trammel stroke in horse) was defined. Besides, it was found that particular animal materials/products were used for some human illnesses and likewise some human materials/products (head bone, female blood, son and adult urine, faeces etc) were used for animal illnesses treatment.As a result it can be said that baitarnames include information which can be considered important for both veterinary and human medicine; on the basis of the common information and implementations (diagnostic, treatment etc) included in baitarnames, there are common points between human and veterinary medicine which developed in parallel in the history.
