Abstract Starting with the analysis of physical education courses at Florianópolis, the present study provides discussions concerning about the value of childhood as a content in the initial formation of teachers and their relationships with continued formation, we also address issues concerning the needs of a human formation that subsidizes a innovative pedagogical practice.
