Abstract:

One of the main objectives of all countries’ economies is to ensure economic growth and sustainable development. For this purpose, the efficient use of low resources and capital growth in the field of technology are of great importance. Moreover, women’s labour, which represents half of the labour factor, one of the production sources, is of extreme importance for the sustainable economic growth goal. The social roles and responsibilities of the atherical social system in particular on women lead women to a secondary position in both social and economic life. This situation in the country’s economies leads to issues such as injustice in the income distribution, women’s poverty and unemployment. The main objective of the study is to examine the impact of women’s employment on economic growth while making a comparison of women’s employment enhancing policies and regulations towards the OECD countries and the position of women in Turkey and the position in the economy. In this context, the theoretical background of the study has been evaluated and data for the 2000-2019 period has been used. The findings from the study show that countries with high gender inequalities and women’s poverty are behind groups of developed countries in terms of human development.
