Abstract:

In your text, we will try to sociologically evaluate the type of police, which is not yet sufficiently studied and neglected by our country’s academics, which is usually seen as a means of entertainment and time. After briefly evaluating the historical origins of police, a kind of literature that is read and sold by millions of people in many countries, we will ask whether a police novel, as a kind of literature, can bring a sociological criticism of today’s modern civilization. When we ask this question, we will, on the one hand, evaluate the legislative, regulatory and disciplinating characteristics of modernity, and on the other hand, explore the sociological context of the appearance of police as a kind. Police novels about crime and criminals do not see human existence as rational, logical beings that are fully in accordance with order and rule. They are treated as "in tension of existence" and criminalised beings. The original hero of the novel is the detective, and the criminal is the anti-thesis. We will evaluate this approach to the man of the police type in the context of the "existence tension" which is a philosophical thesis, moving from the thoughts of Eric Voegelin, Siegfried Kracauer and Sören Kierkegaard. We will also discuss the idea of whether the detective is the positive of modern rational civilization and the law.
