Okullarda Yaşanan Örgütsel Sessizliğe İlişkin Öğretmen Görüşlerinin Nitel Analizi

Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaöğretim kurumlarında görev yapmakta olan öğretmenlerin örgütsel sessizliğe ilişkin görüşlerini tespit etmeye çalışmaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, öğretmenlerin çalıştıkları kurumda sessiz kalma nedenleri, yaşanan sessizliğin bireysel, örgütsel, eğitimsel açıdan etkileri ve okullarda yaşanan sessizliğin önlenmesine yönelik öneriler belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Düzce ili ortaöğretim kurumlarında görev yapmakta olan 12 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan durum çalışması deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme soruları aracılığı ile toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre öğretmenlerin sessiz kalma nedenleri dışlanma, kötü muamele görme düzenli ders programına sahip olma niyeti ya da izin alma gibi çıkarlarını koruma düşüncesi ve bir şeyleri değiştiremeyeceği düşüncesi olarak tespit edilmiştir. Sessizliğin etkilerine ilişkin sonuçlar, olumsuz bir okul ikliminin oluşması, verimin düşmesi ve disiplin problemlerinin artması olarak tespit edilmiştir. Okullarda sessizliğin önlenmesine yönelik öğretmen önerileri, demokratik bir ortamın oluşturulması, öğretmenlere bilgilendirme programlarının yapılması ve öğretmenlerin görüşlerini açıkça ve özgürce ifade edebilecekleri ortamların oluşturulması şeklinde tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, araştırma sonuçları bağlamında önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Quality Analysis of Teachers' Opinions About Organizational Silence in Schools

Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to try to identify the opinions of teachers who work in the high school institutions on organizational silence. In line with this goal, the teachers have been trying to identify the causes of silence in the institution where they work, the individual, organizational, educational effects of silence and the recommendations for the prevention of silence in schools. The study’s work group consists of 12 teachers who are working in the Düzce or high school institutions in the research has been used the case study scheme, which is one of the quality research methods. The data of the study was collected through semi-configured interview questions. The research finds that the reasons for teachers to remain silent are the thought of protecting their interests, such as exclusion, misbehavior, intention to have a regular curriculum or permission, and the idea that they can’t change anything. The results related to the effects of silence have been identified as the formation of a negative school climate, the decline in productivity and the increase in disciplinary problems. Teachers’ recommendations for the prevention of silence in schools have been identified in the form of creating a democratic environment, making educational programs for teachers and creating environments where teachers can express their opinions clearly and freely. Also, recommendations were made in the context of research results.

The aim of this research is to try to determine the opinions of teachers working in secondary education institutions about organizational silence. For this purpose, it was tried to determine the reasons for the silence in the institution where they work, the effects of the silence experienced in individual, organizational, educational terms and the prevention of silence in schools. The study group of the research consists of 12 teachers working in the secondary education institutions of Düzce province. In the research, a case study pattern, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The data of the research were collected by semi-structured interview technique. According to the results of the research, exclusion, ill-treatment, or the idea of having a self-interest such as the intention to have a regular syllabus or getting permission and the idea that it cannot change things are among the reasons for the teachers to remain silent. The results about the effects of silence were determined as a negative school climate, decreased productivity and increased disciplinary problems. Suggestions for preventing silence in schools are to be informed to teachers and to create a democratic environment where teachers can express their views openly and freely.
