Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to study the factor structure of the Professional Decision Inventory developed by Çakır (2004) to measure high school students' professional instability levels through verifying factor analysis in the framework of different models. In the preliminary work of the Professional Decision Inventory, Chakır (2004) has done the analysis of the opening factor with the inventory’s factor resolution. In the development phase of the inventory, the form containing a total of 5 factors was revealed. In this study, the structure found in the preliminary study was tested with the verifying factor analysis in the framework of 5 different models, including one-dimensional, related first level, unrelated first level, second level and two-factor model. In the verifying factor analysis, the conclusion was found that the second-level structure of the Professional Decision Inventory was verified as a model. In this regard, it can be said that internal conflict, self-definition, lack of knowledge of profession and field, unreasonable beliefs in the choice of profession and external conflicts are the variables of the professional decision structure. It is also determined that the variable that has the most impact on professional decision, which is the general structure, is the lack of professional and field knowledge. The average calculated variance and structure reliability ratio for the inventory is also sufficient.
