New forms of urban sprawl alter the morphological structure. As a result, the development of new territories is marked by socio-spatial fragmentation, an increase of the population’s vulnerability and segregation. The main objective of this research is to uncover deep territorial imbalances within the northern rururban system of the city of Santa Fe by means of designing and applying a synthetic index of socio-environmental vulnerability, as well as identifying contrasting morphological patterns. After applying a mixed methodological design based, on one hand, on simple multivariate analysis and spatial analysis through GIS tools, and on the other hand, on the interpretation of satellite images, interviews to key informants and other instruments; it has been possible to obtain an approach to economic, social and life conditions transformations.
