Abstract:

The importance of meeting the food need, which is one of the main requirements of the rapidly growing world population, is increasing more and more. For this, agricultural production should increase in proportion to the increasing population. However, this is not possible due to various reasons such as not increasing the existing land assets, faulty agricultural practices, improper use of agricultural lands, the establishment of industrial facilities on fertile lands and damage to the soil as a result of the use of intense chemicals in production. Population growth also limits agricultural production by causing the deterioration of the ecological balance. The reason for this limitation is the depletion of natural resources, increase in air pollution, water pollution and carbon dioxide emissions, and global warming. As a result of all these; there is a global food crisis affecting countries as a result of the increase in global warming, the loss of water resources and the drought, and high economic growth targets. The food crisis, which has increased with the Covid-19 pandemic, gradually increases the importance of agricultural production. For this reason, practices that increase efficiency and eliminate the effects of climate change as a result of global warming should become widespread. The basic condition for these practices that have been done or will be done is sustainability. Made in this framework; hydroponic, aeroponic and aquaponic farming, vertical farming, soilless farming, synthetic meat production, fertigation, etc. are among the alternative solutions to the food crisis. In this study, after explaining the global food crisis and its impact on countries, how the Covid-19 epidemic affected this food crisis and hunger was evaluated on the basis of countries. Then, alternative solutions were offered to provide sustainable food.
