Abstract:

Movies, TV series and famous people can play an effective role in visiting a destination. Especially movies, TV series, well-known people such as writers and literary works that intensely reveal an emotion in people can direct an individual to visit a destination. In this direction, it is aimed to determine whether the aforementioned factors have an effect on the destination preference of people who visit Sinop Historical Prison in Sinop province. In this context, the comments made by people who have visited the destination before on the TripAdvisor website were examined and comments about movies, TV series, well-known people and literary works were evaluated. Within the scope of the research, 424 reviews on the relevant website were examined in June 2023 and the data were analyzed with the Nvivo analysis program. The findings of the research indicate that movies, TV series, well-known people and literary works are effective in the promotion of Sinop Historical Prison and these elements are frequently mentioned in the comments. It was found that most frequently mentioned in the comments were the TV series Parmaklıklar Ardında, the work Aldırma Gönül and Sabahattin Ali as an author. In addition to these findings, negative situations and complaints encountered by visitors during their visits to Sinop Historical Prison were analyzed and some solution suggestions were presented.
