Hareketli yaradılışta olan Selim Sırrı, Galatasaray Lisesi’nde Beden Eğitimi ÖğretmeniFaikBey’i çok beğenip örnek alarak bu derse aşırı ilgi duymuş, çalışmış, adalî gücünü arttırarak aletlerde hünerlerini geliştirmiştir. Aynı heves ve merak yeni okulunda da devam etmiş, diğer spor dallarını, bilhassa Eskrimi de içine alarak iyice ilerlemiş; adalî gücü, pazılarının şişkinliği, aletlerdeki hünerleri kendisini iyice kamçılamış; emsali arasında gerçekten temayüz etmiştir
