Abstract:

The aim of the work is to identify the determiners of the expenditure for higher education for Turkish households. In the study, TIK 2019 households budget survey data were used. In the study that used the data of the 11521 household, identifiable statistics and the Probit Regression model were used in the analysis of data. The data used in the analysis was cleared from inflation according to December 2019. According to the results of the study, the characteristics of household travel have a statistically significant impact on the age, inclination level, gender (woman), household size, the presence of internet connection in the house, the presence of individuals between 0-5 years and 6-18 years of age in the house have a statistically significant impact on the expenditure of higher education. Nevertheless, the civil state of the household travel, the working state and the insurance state characteristics have not seen any impact on the household people's higher education spending.

Abstract:

The aim of the study is to analyze the determinants of household higher education expenditures in Turkey. In the study, TURKSTAT 2019 Household Budget Survey data was used. Descriptive statistics and Probit Regression model were used in the analysis of the data in the study, in which data from 11521 households were used. The data used in the analysis are adjusted for inflation based on December 2019. According to the results of the study, income, household head's level of education, age, gender (female), household size, presence of individuals aged 6-18 years in the household variables were found to have statistically significant effects on higher education expenditure. On the other hand, head of the household marital status, employment status, and insurance status did not have any effect on household higher education expenditures.
