Abstract:

Global digitalization has affected the tourism sector as well as all sectors. As a result, today the topic of tourism and digitalization has begun to become interesting in scientific literature. However, studies aimed at understanding in which context the relationship between tourism and digitalization is addressed are limited. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the chronology, current status and current trends of tourism and digitization articles in the Web of Science (WoS) database. The WoS database has been scanned with the keyword "tourism" and "digitalization" and has reached 143 articles. Articles have been analyzed using the VOSviewer software. The distribution of the publications according to countries is maped using the Geographic Information Systems (CBS). The analysis found that the articles were concentrated in six categories, including Digital Reality Technologies, Tourism Models and Strategies, Information and Communication Technologies, COVID 19, Management in Tourism and Social Media in Tourism. In addition, the number of publications on the subject has increased since 2015. In addition, when the publications are distributed by countries, it is also found that the articles on the subject are focused on socio-economically developed countries, including European countries.
