Afrika ülkelerini Amerikan müttefiki olan/olmayan biçiminde ayıran ABD politikasının, Çin’i kıtada sınırlayabileceği tartışmalıdır. ABD’nin Afrika’da askeri varlığını artırması, önümüzdeki süreçte kıtada, güvenlik gündeminin ön sıralarını işgal edecek gelişmelerin yaşanabileceğini göstermektedir.
Since the end of the Cold War, Africa has become a region where the interests of the great powers have increased. In addition to the fact that the continent controls an important water supply such as the Swedish Canal-Red Sea-Babylon Mendep throat, its energy resources are the main reason for major forces’ interest in the continent. By the end of the 20th century, the United States declared that there was no significant strategic interest in Africa, and on the increase of China's effectiveness in the international scale to become a significant economic power, with the motivation to limit this country, developed a foreign policy that has increased its military presence in the continent in recent years. This approach, which prioritizes security instead of investment and development on the continent, is not adopted by many African countries. It should be discussed that the U.S. policy that separates African countries in the form of a/not U.S. ally could limit China to the continent. The increase in U.S. military presence in Africa shows that in the upcoming process, developments in the continent may be seen to occupy the front rows of the security agenda.
