Bu araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye’de sporun topluma yaygınlaştırılması açısından okul sporları ve okul sporlarında önemli görevler üstlenmiş olan beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin uygulamada karşılaştıkları sorunları tespit etmektir. Araştırmanın evrenini, M.E.B’e bağlı okullarda görev yapan beden eğitimi öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemini ise, Ankara’da 2002-2003 eğitim öğretim döneminde görev yapan 546 beden eğitimi öğretmeni arasından tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilmiş 347 beden eğitimi öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın problemine ilişkin olarak, beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin demografik bilgileri ve okullarında karşılaştıkları çeşitli durumları tespit etmek için bir anket uygulanmıştır. Anketten elde edilen verilerin yüzde ve frekans değerleri alınmış, bazı sorular için ANOVA değerleri hesaplanarak tablolar haline dönüştürülmüştür. Araştırmaya katılan beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin, %28.8’i "42 yaş ve üstü" gurubunda, %60.2’si de "erkek" dir. Araştırma gurubunun %83.3’ünün "idari görevinin olmadığı", %60.8’inin "okullarındaki sportif faaliyetlerde maddi sıkıntılar çektiği", %73.4’ünün "okullardaki beden eğitimi ders saatlerinin yeterli olmadığını", %89’unun "sporun topluma yaygınlaştırılmasında okul sporlarının etkili olduğunu" %96’sının ise "okullararası yapılan spor organizasyonlarının ülke sporuna katkı sağlayacağını" belirttikleri tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak; beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin, okul sporlarının ülke sporuna katkı sağlayacağı, okul sporlarında maddi sıkıntı, tesis sorunu ve idari sorun yaşandığı, sporun topluma yaygınlaştırılmasında ve öğrencinin akademik başarısının artırılmasında okul sporlarının etkili olacağı sonucuna varılmıştır.

The aim of this research is to find out the application problems that are faced by the physical education teachers who have an important role on school sports and school sports in terms of spreading sports to society in Turkey. The universe of the research constitutes physical education teachers work at schools of Ministry of National Education. The sample of the research constitute 347 randomly selected physical education teachers among 546 physical education teachers work in Ankara in 2002-2003 academic year. Related to the problem of the research, a questionnaire is applied to find out the demographic information and several problems in their schools. The rates and frequency values of the questionnaire data are considered, these values put into tables by calculating Anova values for some questions. The physical education teachers participated in this research stated that; %28.8 of them is 42 age and over, %60.2 of male, %83.3 has no administrative position, %60.8 has economic problems in sportive facilities, %73.4 thinks that hours of physical education courses are not adequate, %96 considers that sports organizations among schools would be beneficial for national sports. Consequently, physical education teachers concluded that school sports would be beneficial for national sports; they face with economic limitations, lack of sports facilities and administrative problems; school sports would be affective for spreading sports in society and improving the academic accomplishment of students.
