Abstract:

This study is a research that examines the effects of using concept maps in teaching case endings to bilinguals. Purposeful sampling method was used in the study, in which the action research design, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used, and the research was carried out in Rum Minority Schools operating in Çanakkale. The teacher diaries kept during the action research process, student activities and the data obtained in the focus group interview formed the data pool of the study. The obtained data were interpreted by content analysis. As a result of the study, it was seen that the participants had difficulties in using the case endings, especially the side functions. The lack of knowledge of the students, the fact that some students have little practice in speaking Turkish, the difference in the case endings in the Romaic language and the negative effects of this difference on the students are the three main reasons for this problem. As a result of the study, it was seen that teaching the noun case suffixes with the concept maps technique had a positive effect on the success of the students who made up the study group.
