Abstract This text is presented as an essay and aims to dialogue on the role of social movements for child education in the fight for the right to life and education, considering the effects of the Covid-19 pandemia and its obstacles to the guarantee of fundamental rights for babies and children. The proposed discussions are based on analyses of the consolidation of public policies on early childhood education before, during and after the pandemic, which requires these movements to reflect self-reflection on their forms of organization, clarity of their agendas and collective mobilization to overcome the forces neoliberals and conservative which threaten democracy in Brazil. Finally, it is proposed that studies on black feminism be inspirations for these movements, in which the intersectionality among the categories of race, class, gender, and disability are fundamental elements to guide the defenses of the rights of babies and children.
