10 Muharrem “Aşure Günü”nde en az on çeşit malzemeden oluşan aşurenin pişirilerek eşe-dosta, fakirlere dağıtılması Nuh peygamberin sünneti olarak kabul edilmiş ve bu sebeple de Aşure Günü tarih boyunca, kutsal bir gün olarak çeşitli şekillerde kutlanmıştır. Osmanlılarda bu günde aşure yapılıp dağıtılması gerek halk arasında gerekse saray ve devlet ricali arasında da görülmekte ve buna özen gösterildiği anlaşılmaktadır. Aşure Günü kutlamaları, saraydan başlamak üzere halk tabakasına kadar uzanan Osmanlı sosyal hayatını canlandıran; birlik, beraberlik ve dayanışma duygularını kuvvetlendiren bir gelenek olarak varlığını sürdürmüştür. Bu konudaki çalışmalarda XVIII. ve XIX. yüzyıllarda Osmanlı sarayında aşure yapımı ve dağıtımı üzerinde durulmadığı görülmektedir. Bu nedenle bu makalenin konusu XVIII. yüzyıl ve XIX. yüzyılın ilk yarısı arasında 10 Muharrem Aşure Günü’nde Osmanlı sarayında aşure yapımı ve dağıtımı ile ilgili uygulamaları içermektedir. Makaledeki bulguların Türk kültür tarihine katkı sağlaması amaçlanmaktadır. Konuyla ilgili olarak Osmanlı arşivlerinde XVIII. yüzyıl ve daha sonraki dönemlere ait bazı kayıtları teşrifat, cîb-i hümâyûn (ceyb-i hümâyûn) ve harc-ı hassa defterleri gibi belgelerden takip etmek mümkündür. Bunlar incelendiğinde sarayda yapılacak aşure için gerekli malzemeler, aşure yapımında ve dağıtımında kullanılan malzemeler, aşure dağıtılan kişiler ve bunları dağıtanlar, aşure pişirildiğinde yapılan ihsanlar, aşure getirenlere verilen bahşişler ve giydirilen kürkler gibi ayrıntıları görmek mümkündür. Arşiv belgelerinin bize verdiği bu bilgiler, aynı zamanda saray görevlilerini ve bunların üç ayda bir aldıkları maaşlar ile özel günlerde aldıkları bahşişleri göstermeleri bakımından da önemlidir. Bu çalışmada kullanılan belgeler, XVIII. yüzyıl ve XIX. yüzyılın başlarını muhtevi olup, Osmanlı’nın son dönemlerinde aşure gününün dinî hayatındaki rolüne ilişkin anlatılara mutfak kültürü ve sosyal dayanışma bağlamında katkı sağlamaktadır.
