Türkiye Dünyanın önemli bir deprem kuşağı olan Alp Himalaya deprem kuşağı üzerinde bulunmaktadır. Anadolu’da tarihsel dönemlerde sayısız depremler meydana gelmiştir. Ayrıca Anadolu’da onlarda medeniyet kurulmuş ve onlarcası ise yıkılmıştır. Türkiye bu bölgede medeniyetlerin kesiştiği Avrupa ile Asya’yı birleştiren bir köprü görevi yerine getirmektedir. Düzce ili konum olarak depremselliği yüksek olan bir bölgede bulunmaktadır. Bu bölgede Kuzey Anadolu Fay sistemi (KAFZ) etkisi hakimdir. Düzce ili KAFZ sisteminin bir kolu olan Düzce fayı etkisinde bulunmaktadır. Tarihsel dönemlerde birçok depremlere maruz kalmıştır. Son dönemlerde de 17 Ağustos 1999 ve 12 Kasım 1999 tarihlerinde iki büyük yıkıcı depremle sarsılmıştır. Konuralp ilçesinde Roma döneminden kalan birden çok yapı ve izler bulunmaktadır. Bunlardan en önemlisi ise tarihi antik Su kemerleridir. Su kemerlerinin enkazı hala tarihe tanıklık etmektedir. Bu kemerlerin tarihi depremlerde zarar gördüğü tahmin edilmektedir. Hala ilçenin dışında su kemerleri turistik amaçla görevini sürdürmektedir.
Turkey is located on the Alpine-Himalayan seismic belt, which is an important earthquake belt of the world. A lot of earthquakes have occurred in Anatolia in historical periods. In addition to this, civilization was established in them in Anatolia and dozens of them were destroyed. Turkey acts as a bridge connecting Europe and Asia, where civilizations intersect in this region. Düzce province is located in a region with high seismicity. The North Anatolian Fault system is dominant in this region. Düzce province is under the influence of the Düzce fault, which is a branch of the NAFZ system. It has been exposed to many earthquakes in historical periods. Recently, two major destructive earthquakes have been shaken on 17 August 1999 and 12 November 1999. There are multiple structures and traces from the Roman period in Konuralp district. The most important of these is the historical ancient Aqueducts. The wreckage of aqueducts still stands witness to history. It is estimated that these arches were damaged in historical earthquakes. Aqueducts still servise outside the district for touristic purposes.
