Savaşlar; harp sahası ve gerisinde yaşanılan üstünlük ya da yetersizlikler doğrultusunda şekillenmektedir. Lojistiğin en az asker sayısı ve cephane durumu kadar savaşların kaderini etkilediği, hatta lojistiğin sağlanamadığı bazı cephelerin düşman ordularıyla karşılaşmadan düştüğü bilinmektedir. Osmanlı Devleti, durumun önemine binaen Birinci Cihan Harbinde ordunun lojistik ve iaşe faaliyetlerini yürütmek üzere amele ve hamal taburları gibi birçok geri hizmet birliği oluşturmuştur. Bu taburlar, silahlı birer nefer gibi olmasa da ellerindeki iş aletleri ve sırtlarında taşıdıkları onlarca kiloluk ağırlıklarla ordunun lojistiğine ciddi katkı sağlamışlardır. Hamal taburlarının desteği cephe hattındaki mücadelenin aksamadan devam etmesini ve elim hadiselerin önüne geçilmesini sağlamıştır.
The wars are formed according to the harp field and the superiority or disadvantages experienced behind it. It is known that logistics affects the fate of wars as much as the minimum number of soldiers and the arms status, and even some fronts where logistics cannot be provided fall without encountering the enemy armies. The Ottoman State has formed many re-service unions, such as operations and hamal brigades, to carry out the logistics and deployment activities of the army in the First Cihan War, which is based on the importance of the situation. These troops, though not like a weapon, have made a serious contribution to the logistics of the army with their hand-to-hand work tools and dozens of pounds weighing on their back. The support of the Hamal troops made it possible that the struggle on the front line continued uninterruptedly and that the hands of the events were passed.
